CHC – The Cancer & Hematology Centers

Providers

Our medical professionals share a commitment to excellence and a passion for helping people.

At The Cancer & Hematology Centers, we’ve designed a team of highly skilled doctors who are experts in their fields. Our board-certified doctors were trained in some of the most prestigious universities in the world, and they share a commitment to excellence and a passion for helping people.

Each doctor partners with a uniquely qualified team of individuals to meet the physical, mental and emotional needs of our patients. In addition to our skilled doctors, we have a psychologist, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, clinical pharmacists, and oncology-trained nurses who focus on delivering the highest quality care.

Additional staff members include, pharmacy technicians, financial coordinators, care navigators, and our social services team. They work together to identify and meet your needs while focusing on your comfort and convenience.

What Is an Oncology Doctor?

An oncologist is a medical doctor specially trained to treat people with cancer. Most of our doctors are also hematologists, which means they treat short-term and long-term blood diseases such as bleeding or clotting problems, anemia, platelet disorders, and cancers of the blood cells such as lymphoma, leukemia, or multiple myeloma.

Doctor and Patient

Providers at CHC

Doctors

We have more than 20 doctors at the Cancer & Hematology Centers, and we continue to grow. Our oncology doctors and hematologists work closely with the members of your care team to ensure that you are receiving the best treatment possible. Our staff also believes in listening to each of our patients to hear their concerns and answer their questions.

Advanced Practice Providers

The advanced practice providers include nurse practitioners and physician assistants specially trained in cancer and hematology treatments. Our nurses are certified in chemotherapy administration, and many of them are also oncology certified.

Pharmacists

The pharmacists and technicians at CHC specialize in preparing IV and oral chemotherapy medications. Our specialty pharmacies stock medications that aren’t found in most standard pharmacies. The staff also works alongside the social work team to help patients understand their insurance and prescription drug benefits. If patients can’t afford the cost of their prescriptions, they find methods such as co-pay cards, patient assistance programs, or other support and charity organizations to help.

Psychologists

The impact of cancer goes far beyond the physical effects, and treating the mental and emotional challenges of a diagnosis is core to what we do at CHC. Our behavioral oncologist works to treat symptoms such as fatigue, insomnia, depression, and anxiety.

Care Teams

We believe patients receive the best results when they have an entire team of specialized and dedicated staff to help them. Our care teams combine the providers mentioned above and connect them with additional staff to get the best results.

Care teams can include:

  • your doctor
  • lab technicians
  • a medical assistant
  • a chemotherapy/biotherapy-certified nurse
  • a nurse practitioner or physician assistant
  • a pharmacy team
  • a financial coordinator
  • a social worker
  • a psychologist

Compassionate Care at CHC

Being diagnosed with cancer is one of the most stressful and challenging periods in a person’s life. The staff at CHC is dedicated to providing compassionate care that supports patients at many different levels.

We provide our patients with information and expertise to help them prepare for their treatment. Our social workers connect patients and their families with necessary resources such as financial coordinators and support groups. Our care coordinators are also on hand to answer questions and ensure that the experience is as seamless and comfortable as possible.

“Many of the physicians that you’ll see (at CHC) have had extensive experience in academia and prior research… We brought a higher-skilled physician—who wants to still be academic—but wants to also care about the community and be part of the delivery model.” – Dr. Mark Campbell
